The fifth stop on my tour of Churches and Cathedrals, St Josephs Cathedral! Construction began in 1862 and was completed in 1869. Originally it was supposed to have two towers, but in the end only one was built. Between 1915 and 1977 it was known as the ‘Old Cathedral,’ as a new cathedral had taken its place on Delaware ave. The delaware Ave Cathedral met it’s demis in 1977 though, and the Franklin Street location regained it’s cathedral title and status.
This shoot was the last Art shoot for me before sending my camera body off to Canon Professional Services for a cleaning. After more than a year and a half and several thousand shutter clicks, dust becomes a true enemy on the sensor. For a while now I have been cleaning my my images to remove the little dust spots. But, after this shoot it became real apparent to me that I needed to take action. Many real good images from this shoot are just un-repairable (I could spend hours in photoshop repainting areas, but, in the long run it would actually be quicker to simply revisit the Cathedral.
With that said, my tour of churches and cathedrals (and yes, I will be hitting the Basilica too!) shall be on hold until I have my camera back (all nice and clean and hopefully working like it should!!!!!)
